Rules
1. You can only turn in your side quest once, so do your very best!
2. The side quest must connect to the current or previous units.
3. The side quest must be turned in before the unit test.
4. Unless it is EXPLICITLY embedded in the product, all side quests must have a ½ to 1-page write up explaining how a Historical Thinking Skill was integrated into the side quest

Copy Cat | Create the cover of a major magazine. It must feature a realistic-sounding article title about our current unit. Your job is not to write the article. Create-Your-Own | Using the other quests as a guideline, come up with you own quest that shows your interest and knowledge of the material in the unit. Sell that idea to the teacher for approval. | 50-100 | Any | |
Curator of Curiosity | You need to make a new exhibit to display at a local museum. The only catch is that the museum needs a bit of convincing. For this quest, you need to make the exhibit and write up a marketing pitch promoting why this exhibit should join their permanent collection. | 50-125 | Any | |
Double Take (Compare and Contrast) | Choose something that represents a characteristic of an advanced civ. Compare and contrast the same thing from two different civs (for example, the similarities of the temples of Mesopotamia to the temples of the Americas). Fast Flash
| You have 24 hours to turn in a set of at least ten flashcards. On one side, draw a picture to represent the vocabulary word; on the other side, write the word and its definition. The words cannot come from the Key Terms and People list of the section. These must be physical cards. | 50-70 | ||
History Brief | Write a 2-3 page paper exploring the origin & purpose of a cultural aspect from your Civ. This could be a building, a work of art, a song, etc. In your paper, be sure to include the context of why it was created and its value to the society in that time. | 50-100 | Any | |

Letter Home

Music Man | Write new lyrics to the tune of an old television theme song (such as The Brady Brunch, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, or The Big Band Theory) using an event or topic from the current unit. The better the info, the more RP earned. | 50-70 | ||
Rap it Up
| Create a song, rap, or any other style of music, and record it to be played to the class. Must include information from the current unit and show mastery of the material. | 50-100 | Any | Garage Band, Audacity
